Oak stair treads over white risers

Hardwood stairs in North Windham, MEStairs that match the floor they land on.

Treads, risers, nosing and landings, refinished or rebuilt, including the custom pieces nobody stocks.

Stairs

The most-used floor in the house.

Stairs take more wear than any floor in the house, and they’re the first thing people see from the front door. We refinish worn treads, put in new ones, and make the nosing, step-ups and landing pieces that tie a staircase into the floor around it.

When a customer’s new birch floor needed a stair nose and a step-up piece that didn’t exist, the crew custom-made them, and in the customer’s words they made it look wonderful.

A customer, word for word

★★★★★

Tony and his team came to install my birch floors and did a beautiful job. They arrived on time and completed the job fast. They were very detailed and meticulous. I did not have a stair nose or a step up piece and they custom made it and made it look wonderful. They communicated each step with me and ideas. They left the job clean. Happy customer. Exceptional team! I highly recommend them.

FAQ

Stairs questions.

Can you match the stairs to a new floor?

Yes. Stair nosing, step-ups and treads are made and finished to match the floor they meet.

Can carpeted stairs be turned into wood?

Often. There’s sometimes good hardwood under old carpet. If there isn’t, new treads go on.

Can you refinish stairs and floors together?

Yes, and it’s the best way to get one even color from the front door to the upstairs hall.
